El Triunfo Trip
El Triunfo is located 25 miles south of La Paz on Mexico’s Highway 1. Being at one point the largest city in Baja due to its mining industry, the silver and gold mines here date back to the late 1800’s. During this time period, a large number of Native American, Italian, French, English, North Americans, German, and Chinese settlers flocked to El Triunfo.
One of the main stops in the El Triunfo trip is to the tall stone chimney called La Ramona, the symbol of El Triunfo. It is considered to be to be an engineering wonder that was designed by Gustave Eiffel - who is also accredited with engineering the Eiffel Tower.
